I make no bold prediction of who will win the presidential race, the silver-tongued or the silver-haired, but I can predict with a high degree of certainty that the losers in this race will be you and me.

Can we call a “do over” and hold the primaries again? Seriously, are Obama and McCain the best we have? Can I use my mulligan now?

The current state of the Union reminds me of the late 1950’s and late 1970’s when this great country faced similar challenges–a faltering economy and uncertainty with respect to national security. At the end of each of those decades, the nation elected John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, respectively. And who is going to lead us out of our dark hour come January? Either an inexperienced socialist or an old curmudgeon. Great. Just great.

Change for the sake of change is fine when it comes to rearranging your living room furniture. It’s an irresponsible reason for choosing a president.

We could end up with a president and vice president who in 2007, were ranked as the first and third most liberal members of the Senate, respectively. Let me put that in a different perspective. That would be like a Jesse Helms/Rick Santorum ticket. I’m a Republican and even I wouldn’t want that.

Vote early and if you’re a member of ACORN, vote often!
