About
The Story of Tunesmith & Anthony
Tunesmith and Anthony were born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at around the time that Rusty Staub’s career peaked. Tunesmith grew up on the golden banks of the Allegheny River in the neighborhood of Lawrenceville, famous for its discount meats and for being the only city neighborhood to span two wards. Anthony grew up on the mean streets of Bloomfield where he developed a strong disdain for nuns. Though only living a mile or two apart, Tunesmith and Anthony’s paths would not cross until high school.
The two met accidentally, sitting at opposite ends of the amalgamated Lawrenceville-Bloomfield lunch table in their high school cafeteria. As their respective friends preoccupied themselves with squirting ketchup packets at each other and trading exaggerated tales of their experiences with beer and girls, Tunesmith and Anthony soon learned that they shared something in common—a dislike for all of their friends. Ever since those salad days, the pair has remained the best of friends and over the years have become regarded as two of the most fascinating and charming individuals ever to emerge from Pittsburgh’s tri-state area.
In November of 2004, Tunesmith and Anthony decided that it was time for them to spread their wit, charm and worldly views to a larger audience. Thus, T&A: Tunesmith and Anthony’s Blog was born, offering “daily insights on life, love, and breakfast cereals.” The T&A Blog was an instant success. Almost immediately, the blog received critical acclaim in the form of the coveted Bronstein Award for Excellence in Blogging. This award was soon followed by a mention on The Junker and Crow Show with Guy Junker and Eddy Crow on Pittsburgh’s ESPN Radio 1250 AM. Tunesmith and Anthony’s greatest accolades came when the legendary Rick Sebak—PBS documentary writer, producer and narrator—placed a link to T&A’s Blog on the WQED web site and observed: “The best portrait of Pittsburgh on the web: the blog from Tunesmith & Anthony. These guys are GREAT and truly funny. But thoughtful too.”
Tunesmith and Anthony continue to entertain and inspire tens of people on a daily basis and consider the T&A Blog as only the beginning of building their vast empire.
