Can someone please explain why Colin Powell, Mrs. Garrett from The Facts of Life and Don Shula are on this billboard? Perplexing.

I was able to get a message to Don "The Schwenneker" Schwenneker, asking him to drop me a note to let us know how he's doing out there in Chicago. The big man was kind enough to oblige and wrote:

Still checking out the site and getting my laugh on.  That's how I roll.  I'm kidding.  Hope things are going well there.  Believe it or not I really miss the 'burgh, especially with the Pirates above .500 this far into the season.  Hope you are doing well!

Class act, that Don Schwenneker is. I'm glad to see that he's doing well. In fact, he's already moved from weekend weather dude to the 5:00PM weekday newscast in a matter of a few months. I don't know about you, but I think making it to a daily newscast in Chicago is a pretty big deal. I predict even bigger things for the big man.

I came across a behind the scenes interview of The Schwenneker from his new station's web site. Take a look. He has nice things to say about Pittsburgh and the patron saint of Pittsburgh Italians, Joe DeNardo. I dubbed him "The Schwenneker" long ago, but watch the video to hear what his real nickname is.
