The Church Lady works for the Carnegie Library! Well, isn't that special?

Allan Melvin, arguably the greatest and most recognized character actor of all time, has died.  I'm sad. 

The character actor seems to be something of the past. We don't have character actors anymore. Just a bunch of pricks and jagoffs who think they're far more talented and famous than they actually are.

I finally found a video of a Don "The Schwenneker" Schwenneker weather spot from his new station in Chicago. It's from today's evening news. Around 1:57 into the video, you'll notice that his ass is right over Pittsburgh. 

Am I hearing things, or does the female anchor call him John Schwenneker? If she did, I'm going to call her up and say, "Oh no you di'int!"

Don Schwenneker, the WTAE-TV meteorologist respectfully referred to as The Schwenneker by T&A (me), is leaving Pittsburgh for a job in Chicago. Wow. I'm speechless. (h/t Rob Owen) It's a dark day in T&A land.

This really sucks. Bob Longo, you're going to rue the day you let this man leave. He is the only guy you have in your coral of meteorologists to even come close to filling the shoes of The DeNardo. Likable, personable, professional, yet being able to effortlessly connect with the everyman. Don Schwenneker is the shiznit. 

I would like to congratulate The Schwenneker for his new job. I'm glad to see that you're upgrading. Chicago. That's impressive. You have your work cut out for you, what with all that wind. Best of luck to you, big guy.

This is a typical Pittsburgh turn of events. You have a guy who has the natural ability to become the face and symbol of WTAE for years, and you let him go. Good luck finding a replacement. You let Martz go, and now the Schwenneker. I don't get it. I'm bitter. BITTER I tell you!

After December 31, I think it's about time I start watching KDKA.
